Take up cycling
If you plan your route well, cycling in London can be surprisingly good fun. It can also save you money, get you fit, and means that you don't have to rely on public transport.

Join a car-sharing club
If the only trips that you make are around the city, why not consider joining a car-sharing club? Generally you pay an annual fee to become a member, and then pay rental fee when you use the car.

- Find out about the Nice Car Company, who offer a range of electric cars, trucks, and bikes in the London area.
- Drive efficiently. Reducing your speed on the motorway to 50 - 60 mph can significantly reduce fuel consumption.
- Don't carry unnecessary junk. Removing your roof-rack and clearing your book can also help to reduce fuel consumption.
Walk
Walking in and around town can often be a smart choice. No timetables to keep to, no journey delays, no overcrowding, healthy, green, free, direct, access to services (and sunlight!) en route.
